Duke unlikely to pursue Gilchrist

Michael Gilchrist is widely regarded as the top rated basketball prospect of the class of 2011. During the summer of 2009, Duke Coaches watched the highly rated recruit on a couple occasions while they made the rounds on the summer AAU circuit. Despite this fact the relationship between the two parties never really progressed and Gilchrist is not expected to become an official Duke target. Recently, some Duke fans have been asking why the relationship never progressed. According to one source close to Gilchrist there is no animosity between the 2 sides, instead it’s simply a matter of conflicting goals. Apparently, the style of play of the Duke program is not one that intrigues Gilchrist and therefore he has focused his college search elsewhere. Currently, Gilchrist list Kentucky, Villanova, Texas, Georgia Tech, and Oregon as his leaders.
