Austin Rivers will take an unofficial visit to Durham and will attend Duke’s annual team banquet on Thursday, April 22nd.  Rivers had been expected to attend the Duke-UNC game at Cameron Indoor earlier this year but was unable to make it when his high school team’s state title game ended up being scheduled for the same day.  Thursday’s visit is the make-up for the missed game.

 Amir Williams, a 6-9 220lb 4-star rated recruited by both Rivals.com and Scout.com may also attend the Duke team banquet as well.  Duke has been in contact with Williams for a few months now.

 Finally, recent Duke commit Michael Gbinije has confirmed that he will in attendance Thursday night.

Good news rolled in this afternoon for Duke Basketball coaches, players, and fans alike as class of 2011 wing forward Michael Gbinije made the call to Coach K and verbally committed to Duke.  Gbinije measures 6’6″ tall, weighs 200lbs, and is a 5 star prospect according to Scout.com.  By offering his verbal commitment today Gbinije becomes the first official member of Duke’s recruiting class of 2011.  For Gbinije, the icing on the cake that sealed the deal was this past weekend’s visit to Duke for the victory over archrival UNC.

For Duke Basketball fans, very few things are more pleasing than Saturday night’s 82-50 drubbing of rival North Carolina.  However, it turns out that there is more good news for Duke fans.  In addition to the win over UNC, Blue Devil supporters will be pleased to know that 6 top recruits and prospects were in the house for the victory over the Tar Heels.  Attendees from the class of 2010 included Kyrie Irving, Michael Haynes, and Josh Hairston.  Also attending were Michael Gbinije and TJ Warren from the class of 2011.  The final attendee was highly ranked recruit Shabazz Muhammad from the class of 2012.  All in all, the victory over UNC was a great night for Duke Basketball in more ways than one.
